What is Gestalt?

Gestalt therapy is about people gaining awareness through the process of engaging in dialogue with the therapist. The aim is to become more aware of who we are in the world, by seeing ourselves in relation to others. This increased self knowledge can enable us to understand our processes and so to make positive changes in our lives.

I work hard so that my clients feel unequivocally accepted for the person that they are. There is never an agenda, we start afresh each session with what a client wants to discuss. Gestalt is about thoughts, feelings and body awareness as well as words. If a client chooses we can also work with drawing, movement or other creative activities as well as talking.

I have a masters degree in Gestalt psychotherapy and have studied it extensively. I teach Gestalt psychotherapy at the Welsh Psychotherapy Partnership and also offer supervision there.
